Multi-Design Puzzle Orders

Ordering Custom Jigsaw Puzzles with Multiple Designs

Plan multi-design puzzle orders: shared printing, color tradeoffs, die-cutting setup, packaging and quantity per artwork.

Three printed puzzle box designs displayed with loose puzzle pieces

Short Answer

Different puzzle designs can sometimes share production work, but printing and die-cutting must be assessed separately. Designs using the same print material may be combined on a press sheet if the imposed layout fits the maximum press size. This can save costs on small runs, but makes it harder to adjust the printed color of each artwork independently.

Separately, compatible jobs using the same confirmed cutting die may be grouped to reduce repeated die-cutting makeready. Shared printing does not automatically mean shared die-cutting; shared die-cutting does not require every design to have been printed together.

Provide the quantity of each design as well as the total. Five designs at 100 sets each are not automatically priced like 500 sets of one identical design.

Combining Artworks for Printing

The starting conditions are the same print material and a layout that fits the maximum press size. Actual files, quantities and finishing requirements still need review.

Do not compare only the summed finished areas. The imposed layout must accommodate bleed, trimming and production requirements. Area alone does not establish press fit. Equal quantities may simplify planning, but do not establish a fixed number of designs per sheet. Unequal quantities require review of the layout and quantity mix.

The main tradeoff is color: independent artwork adjustment becomes harder on a shared sheet. Identify important brand colors or reproduction requirements before agreeing to the plan. Ask which proofs or samples should be approved. Do not assume exact matching to an uncalibrated screen.

Grouping Jobs for Die-Cutting

Grouping compatible jobs using the same die can reduce repeated die-cutting makeready. This is distinct from manufacturing a new die. Ask which setup work the quotation reduces.

Two 500-piece puzzles do not necessarily use the same die. Finished dimensions, outline, cutting pattern and die version matter, including different versions of a cutting pattern where applicable. Material and construction compatibility also require confirmation.

Choose the format for the artwork and customer experience, not just assumed savings. See our piece count and size guide.

Example: Five Designs at 100 Sets Each

Suppose ART-01 through ART-05 each require 100 sets with a common proposed puzzle specification. The total is 500 sets. This is an order-planning example, not a quotation or a confirmed production layout.

The supplier should separately assess print materials, layout, color priorities and the actual cutting die. Five box artworks may still introduce version-specific printing, finishing and packing work. Total quantity does not remove those tasks.

Do not apply a single-design reference price without project review. See custom puzzle printing cost.

Packaging and Version Control

Puzzle, box and leaflet printing are not automatically one job. Sharing puzzle print material does not establish that packaging can share the sheet or process.

Discuss a common box structure with design-specific artwork, or a common printed box with separate design identifiers. Review presentation, identification, packing and total cost; neither option is automatically cheapest. See packaging for retail, promotions and gifts.

Give each puzzle, box and insert an artwork ID and link approved file versions to it. Confirm whether cartons contain one design each or a defined assortment, including quantities per design inside mixed cartons.

Sharing production does not itself establish that designs or batches can share compliance documents. Include target-market testing requirements and confirm the project scope.

What to Send for a Quote

  • Number of designs and quantity per design.
  • Finished size, piece count and preferred die or cutting pattern.
  • Material, thickness and finish requirements.
  • Artwork previews, version IDs and important color priorities.
  • Packaging structure and number of box and insert versions.
  • Sample, approval and carton assortment requirements.
  • Destination country, delivery needs and compliance requirements.

Ask for the quantity and unit price of each design, with printing and die-cutting savings explained separately. Confirm which setup costs are shared and the production assumptions behind those savings. Send specifications to sales@southprintcn.com or WhatsApp. See our custom puzzle printing service.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are five designs at 100 sets each priced like 500 sets of one design?

Not automatically. Layout, color priorities, cutting compatibility, packaging versions and packing work need review. Request a quotation showing each design quantity.

Can designs printed separately share die-cutting setup?

Potentially, yes. Compatible jobs using the same confirmed die may be grouped to reduce repeated makeready, subject to production review.

Does the same piece count mean the same die?

No. Dimensions, outline, cutting pattern and die version also matter. The actual die and production compatibility must be confirmed.
